Brake abnormal sound of 14 situations 1 minute to learn a quick solution

Return list Source: BoneVell Brake Pads Release date: 2023/11/10
1. New car run-in
The new car or the newly changed brake disc will have a run-in period, and there will inevitably be some abnormal sounds during the run-in period, which will generally be eliminated after running hundreds of kilometers.

2. The ABS system starts normally
When braking sharply, the brake pedal will have a continuous "clomping" sound, and sometimes there will be a phenomenon of bouncing feet, which indicates that the ABS system is started, which is a normal sound, and at this time, the brake can be stepped on to the end, but only for vehicles equipped with ABS system.

3. Hard metal spots appear on brake pads
There will be some small metal particles inside the brake pad, the brake will make a sharp and harsh sound, this problem can be stamped on a few feet of the brake or the brake pad removed and re-polished, you can also replace a better brake pad.

4. Brake pads wear seriously, start to alarm
Brake pads generally have alarm pads, when the brake pads wear to the limit when the alarm pads will have brake disc friction, produce sharp metal friction sound, at this time must be replaced in time, so as not to scratch the brake disc, brake failure.

5. Brake disc is seriously worn
The wear of the brake disc will form a deep groove on one circle of the disc, and the friction between the brake pad and the edge of the groove will produce abnormal sound. If the groove is not particularly deep, it can be solved by grinding the edge of the brake pad to avoid the friction between the brake pad and the edge of the groove, if the groove is already deep, it is recommended to replace the brake disc. It is generally recommended to replace the brake pads twice and replace the brake discs once.

6. Brake pad assembly problem
Try to reinstall the brake pads and apply butter or special lubricating oil to the connection between the brake pads and the brake calipers. It is also possible that the brake pads are inverted, and you can reassemble them. In particular, owners who have replaced brake pads at roadside stalls should pay more attention to this.

7. Brake pump does not return
Most of them are brake duct problems. Rust in the brake duct or dirty lubricating oil will lead to poor return. Clean the brake duct, sand it with fine sandpaper and apply new lubricating oil. There may also be a problem with the brake pump, and the brake pump needs to be replaced, but this failure is less.

8. Fit problem of brake guide/caliper
In addition to becoming dirty and stagnant, the brake duct may also be too large a gap between the brake duct and the brake caliper, and the two have abnormal noise caused by the amount of open, replace the new brake duct or brake caliper (generally change the brake caliper, because the aperture of the brake caliper may become larger due to wear, and the brake duct wear is smaller), Or wrap a layer of waterproof tape around the brake duct to reduce the fit gap.

9. The reversing brake has a harsh abnormal sound
Considering that most of the working time of the brake is in the process of the vehicle moving forward, the long-term wear of the brake in one direction will cause some burrs on the reverse surface, reverse the brake, and the friction between the burrs and the brake disc will produce abnormal sounds. This situation can not be solved, or remove and polish, you can also replace a better brake pad.

10. There is a "click" sound when you step on the brake in reverse
This is the abnormal sound caused by the upward movement of the brake caliper due to friction and the impact on the upper bracket. It is generally a normal phenomenon, if the abnormal sound is larger, it may need to be repaired.

11. Cold car starts to step on the brake abnormal sound
Because the temperature is low, the rubber parts of the suspension part are relatively hard, the brake disc and the brake pad surface will also change, at this time there will be an abnormal sound, and so on after the car is hot.

12. There are small stones or water films between the brake discs
For example, walking through the gravel road, windy and sandy weather or just after washing the car, step on the brakes a few more feet, or pick out the small stones.

13. The brakes have a "bang" sound after a long time of parking
Especially after the weather is wet or rainy, this is because the brake disc has a certain rust, and it will be good for a while.

14. Suspension, chassis and other components abnormal sound
Check the damping fixing screws, balance rod rubber sleeve, ball head, chassis screws and other parts to see if there is any loosening or aging, this abnormal sound can be experienced in the sudden brake or bumpy road.
