The correct method steps for the running-in of new brake pads

Return list Source: BoneVell Brake Pads Release date: 2023/11/10
Brake pads are an important brake part of a car and an important part to ensure the safety of the driver. Brake pads are divided into disc brake and drum brake, and the material generally includes resin brake pads, powder metallurgy brake pads, carbon composite brake pads, ceramic brake pads. Replace the new brake pads must be running-in, in order to effectively maximize its braking role, here to look at the specific running-in method (commonly known as open skin) :

1, after the completion of the installation, find a place with good road conditions and less cars to start running-in;

2, accelerate the car to 100 km/h;

3, gently brake to moderate force braking to reduce the speed to about 10-20 km/h speed;

4, release the brake and drive for a few kilometers to cool the brake pad and the temperature of the sheet slightly.

5. Repeat steps 2-4 at least 10 times.

Note:

1. In the braking of 100 to 10-20km/h each time, it is not strictly required that the speed is very accurate each time, and the braking cycle can be started by accelerating to about 100km/h;

2, when you brake to 10-20km/h, there is no need to stare at the speedometer, only need to keep your eyes on the road, ensure that attention to road safety, about each braking cycle, brake to almost 10-20km/h on it;

3, the ten brake cycles in progress, do not brake to stop the vehicle, unless you want to make the brake pad material into the brake disc, thereby causing brake vibration;

4, the new brake pad running-in method is to try to use the fractional point brake for braking, do not use the sudden brake before running in;

5, the brake pads after running in still need to reach the best performance with the brake disc after hundreds of kilometers of running period, at this time must be careful to drive, to prevent accidents;

Related knowledge:

1, the brake disc and brake pad run-in is the key to the best performance of your new brake system. Running in new parts not only makes the disc spin and heat up, but also makes the surface of the disc form a stable layer of bonding. If not properly broken in, the surface of the disc forms an unstable compound layer which can cause vibration. Almost every example of "distortion" of the brake disc can be attributed to the uneven surface of the brake disc.

2, for the galvanized brake disc, before the start of running-in, it must be gentle driving and gentle braking until the surface of the electroplated brake disc is worn off before running-in. Usually only a few miles of normal driving is required to achieve the desired effect, without having to wear off the plating of the brake disc by frequent braking at short miles (which may cause the reverse effect).

3, about the strength of the brake pedal during the run-in period: usually, a street heavy brake, the driver feels about 1 to 1.1G of deceleration. At this speed, the ABS of a vehicle equipped with an ABS device is activated. Gentle braking is necessary to run in the brake pads and brake discs. If the ABS intervention or tire lock represents 100% braking force, then the brake pedal force you use when running in is to obtain the maximum braking force without reaching the situation of ABS intervention or tire lock, in which case it is about 70-80% of the state of stomping.

4, the above 1 to 1.1G deceleration, should be many friends do not know what it means, here to explain, this G is the unit of deceleration, represents the weight of the car itself.
